Jane and Russell at Luss Parish Chutch / One Devonshire Gardens

Jane and Russell were married in Luss Parish Church on the banks of Loch Lomond, a magnificent little Church dating back to 1875, and as usual the service carried out by the Rev MacGregor was great, he stands no nonsense which I think is fab ...........

(Inside Luss Parish Church)

It was a late service 3.00 p.m. and the light was disappearing fast as we left the church, however we managed to get everyone down to the loch and have a few minutes of fun with a snow caped Ben Lomond in the background looking impressive.

Back to One Devonshire Gardens ( Hotel Du Vin ) for the reception with a gathering of family and close friends.

A great day was had by all, thank you to Brad and John the best men and Jane's sister Caroline for all their help. Well done to the boys who had not worn the kilt before, pretty impressive for their first time. And of course Jane and Russell for letting me share their day with them.

Kamila and Mark at Archerfield House 08/10/11

Kamila and Mark were married on the 8th Oct at Archerfield House by Dirleton. A magnificent venue for they're wedding. Kamila's family and close friends flew in from the Czech Republic, Mark's close family came from much closer to Archerfield than the Czech Republic !!!!!. Other family and friends came from all over. A great day was had by all. Unfortunately the rain did not stay away, but that did not dampen the sprits. A few thank you's go to Gabriela, Kamila's sister for all her help and for putting up with me (Dekuji.) Best man Craig for all his help and assistance, Fay and all the staff at Archerfield............. Thank you

Shona and Mickey at "Barlogan" Lauder 03/09/11

Shona and Mickey were married on Saturday 3rd at "Barlogan" in Lauder. The ceremony was attended by 30 of their closest friends and family. It was a great day, and everyone was in good spirits. Champagne and canapes were served to guests before and after the service. Registrar and friend Margaret Dick provided a wonderful service, as usual. A big thank you to Martin, the best man, for carrying out his duties, all his help and for putting up with me, to Shona's sister, Jenny, and to Shona's daughter, Rachel, for looking after her. A big thank you to Wendy and her staff at "Barlogan" for looking after everyone and for providing marvellous food.

On Sunday friends and family were invited to The Dipper ( The Golden Bannock) in Lauder to continue with the party. Another great afternoon was had by all.

And as usual a big thank you to Shona and Mickey for letting me share their day with them.

p.s. Maxwell, sorry for breaking your rose !!!!!!!! (it could have been worse)

Alexandra and John at Gleneagles 27/08/11

Alexandra and John were married on Saturday 27th August at Gleneagles. John and Alexandra are both from Liverpool. John, a useful golfer and green keeper in the Liverpool area used to work at Gleneagles. Both families and friends made their way north to Gleneagles. The day went marvellously despite a heavy downpour interrupting the champagne and canapes in the hotel grounds after the service, but we got back out and had some fun.

A few thankyous go to the two best men, James and Paul, to Jane and the bridesmaids for all their help, to Jennifer and Richard and all the staff at Gleneagles, and especially to Iris for supplying the Espresso!!

And thank you Alexandra and John for letting me share your day with you.

Victoria and Martin Dorton House( Ashfold School) The Oxfordshire Golf Course and Hotel 20/08/11

Victoria and Martin were married on Saturday 20th of August at Dorton House in Aylesbury. Dorton House is built on land which was once the hunting grounds of Saxon and Norman kings. It's an amazing red brick building with Tudor chimneys and mullioned windows. During term time it's a prep school but during the summer it becomes a fabulous venue for weddings. Martin and Victoria welcomed their guests on Friday night in The Thatcher in Thame and said farewell on Sunday morning. It was a long and very enjoyable wedding party!!! The couple's friends and family travelled down from Scotland and out from London. Ross Gilder, the best man, did a superb job of the speech and gave us an interesting moment when he and the ushers, Andy Strangeways and Stevie Smith, left all the wedding extras in their taxi, which had driven off into the sunset. Victoria"s sister Jessica, and the girls looked beautiful and supported Victoria throughout the weekend. Thankyou's to Vinnie as Toast Master who did a superb job, Jamie and the staff at Dorton House, the staff at the Oxfordshire Golf Club and Hotel, especially the breakfast staff for lending me a waistcoat. And a big thank you to Martin and Victoria for asking us to join their day. It really was a fantastic weekend.

Audrey and Peter at Dundas Castle 14/08/11

Audrey and Peter were married at Dundas Castle on Sunday the 14th August. A fantastic venue for their day. The live T.V. link for Audrey's Grandfather was a fabulous touch. He enjoyed the occasion tremendously. Leaving the roof of the Auld Keep after their service, they joined their friends and family for their reception and drinks. It was a great day all round, slightly damp under foot but the weather held up allowing everyone to enjoy themselves outside in the castle grounds. A few thankyou's go to best man Keith and his ushers, Audreys sister and bridesmaid Kirsty for all their help, and the youngest flower girl I have ever photographed at a wedding, daughter of . Dudas Castle and all the staff and not forgetting Audrey and Peter for allowing me to share their day with them.

Fiona and Jamie at Mount Stuart Isle of Bute 13/08/11

Fiona and Jamie got married on Saturday at Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute. A wonderful venue for their wedding day. Mount Stuart is Britain's most astounding Victorian gothic mansion. Home to the Stuarts of Bute, descendants of the Royal House of Stuart, this magnificent house sits proudly on the Isle of Bute - ancient stronghold of Scottish kings.

The Cal Mac ferry from Wemyss Bay only takes 40 min for the crossing, a brilliant little ferry journey. A great day was had by all family and friends. Jamie's family are from the Newcastle area, Fiona's from Aberdeen. They now both live and work in London. A big thank you to best man Mattie and his ushers for all their help, to bridesmaids Nicole, Christy and Emily for putting up with me and Roisin and all the staff at Mount Stuart.

And not forgetting Fiona and Jamie for letting me share their day with them.

Lucy and Alec were married at Ednam House Kelso in the Scottish Borders on Friday, a great day was had by all friends and family. The weather held up and we had some fun out in the streets of Kelso, and then on to Kelso Abbey with a few bottles of champagne. Charlotte and Lee exchanged their vows again after fifteen years of married life. A totally relaxed and fun day at Gleneagles. In attendance were their two girls and close family and friends. They stayed in Scotland for the week after their reception, after Gleneagles they visited Loch Lomond staying at Cameron House and finished off at Turnberry in Ayrshire.

Jennifer and David were married at Carindow Paris Church on the banks of Loch Fyne, a beautiful little church dating back to 1816. Their reception was held in the equally magnificent Ardkinglass House, on Loch Fyne. A fantastic day, Jennifer's family are from Dumbarton, Jen and David now work and live in London. A big thank you to bestman Paul and his ushers, and all the bridesmaids. Rosie and all her staff from Chatters of Dunoon for the catering. The weather held up, and the midges were biting. A beautiful part of the country. A bit of useless information in that the tallest tree in the U.K. is in Ardkinglass Woodland Gardens adjacent to the house. An amazing woodland, defiantly worth a visit if you are passing by.

Gillian and Immy were married at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh on Sunday. A great day was had by all. After the wedding service the wedding party including all the guests went out into Pricess St and over to the steps of the Old Post Office across from the hotel, where we had some fun, from there we had a walk around the back of the Cafe Royal with Gillian, Immy Best man Chris and Bridesmaid Ruth. A big thank you to both of them and all the staff at the Balmoral.

To finish it off we went on to the roof of the Balmoral with magnificent views over Edinburgh.

Sarah and Scott were married, on Saturday, at the Roxburghe Country House Hotel, in the Scottish Borders. A magnificent venue for their wedding day. Sarah and Scott got married with their close family and friends present. Although a small wedding in numbers attending, you can see how much the day meant to both of them and having their families present was special. The weather was magnificent, bright and cloudy, the sort of conditions photographers love. A magnificent light for photographs. A few spots of rain fell but that did not interfere with the day. The drinks reception was held in the hotel gardens. Later Sarah, Scott and myself went for a walk to the fishing Loch in the hotel grounds. Some extra guests turned up for the wedding service ........ some of the children from Sarah's primary school class, to see their teacher getting married. A big thankyou to all for making it a fab day. All the staff at the Roxburghe for all their hard work and help. And of course, Sarah and Scott for letting me share their day with them.

Victoria and Chris at "Roman Camp"

Victoria and Chris were married in the Trossachs Church , over looking Loch Achray, their reception was at Roman Camp. Two amazing venues for their wedding day. It was a glorious day for their wedding, lots of sun and great company. Back at their reception both family and guests enjoyed their canapes and champagne in the gardens of the hotel. After the brief informal /formal photographs Victoria and Chris, with Claudia the chief bridesmaid and ushers, took a walk accompanied by a few bottles of champagne down to the river and we had some fun. A great day was had by all. A few thankyous to Victoria's sister Claudia, and Chris's brother and best man Martin, and all the ushers for all their help. Kirsten and Max at Prestonfield House Hotel 28/05/11

Kirsten and Max were married in one of my favourite churches with a fabulous minister, in Duddingston Kirk.

Kirsten left from the Prestonfield Hotel to arrive at the church perfectly on time. I met up with Max and the boys earlier at that well known watering hole 50 yds from the church, The Sheep Heid Inn. Back at the Hotel and reception, the marquee came in very useful to shelter from the heavy showers. They did not last long and we were really lucky. Kirsten, originally from Glasgow now lives in Wandsworth Common in London with Max. Both sets of families and friends of Kirsten and Max were certainly enjoying themselves. A fantastic day ........

New Magazine Add

This is my new advertisement due to be published in the forthcoming Wedding magazine,

The Scottish Wedding Directory and Cosmopolitan Bride. All the photographs in the Ad were taken at weddings in the U.K. last year. The main photograph is of Julia and David at the Torridon Hotel in Wester Ross, a magnificent location. The smaller photographs from left to right are from Claire and Allan's wedding at Elim Christian Fellowship in Paisley: Helen and Richard's wedding at Gleneagles their son and page boy: Fay and Steve at St Sophia's in Bayswater London. The photograph was taken in Kensington High St on the way to the reception. We caused quite a stir but it was good fun. And lastly, from Laura and Matthew's wedding at Dunblane Cathedral & Roman Camp, this is one of my favourite photographs from last year. Laura was outside the Cathedral's large wooden door and I noticed her flower girl was on the move. She ran towards Laura. I captured that "perfect momemt".

I made the front cover of a national photographers' magazine this month. The magazine is published by the MPA ( Master Photographers Association) of which I have been a member for the past twelve years. The Master Photographers' Association is the UK's only trade body exclusively for full-time professional wedding, portrait and commercial photographers.

The photograph was taken last November at Shona and Kevin's wedding in Glasgow Cathredral. A magnificent building.

Lois and Sandy were married at The Roman Camp on Saturday. Unfortunately, the weather was not too good, but they were having a ball inside. Only twice in the past 14 years, have I arrived at a wedding and it has been raining, and it was still raining when I have left. But I'm glad to say that it did not dampen any of the families' or guests' spirits. A few thankyous to bestman Derek and the boys, to Caroline and the bridesmaids for all their help and enthusiasm, to Shona and all the staff at Roman Camp, and to Head Chef Ian and his kitchen staff for producing, once again, some of the best food served at a wedding.

Emma and Angus were married at Wedderburn Castle in the Scottish Borders on Saturday. A great day was had by all. Rhona and Geof were married at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel in the "Scottish Borders". The weather improved as the day went on, allowing us to have some fun out side. Rhona's family are from the Borders. Geof's side are Canadian. There were a few over for the wedding and, although out numbered, they made themselves known. A great day was had by all.

A big thank you to Gran, for putting up with me, the bridesmaids and best man Brian for all his help, and to all the staff at the Dryburgh.

An unusual wedding cake surprised the bride and groom. Made by www.cakesbychristine.org it was a desert scene of two pyramids, with camels and the couple walking past, holding hands. Fabulous.

A favourite photograph ..........

I have been doing some editing to-day and came across the photograph below. I was photographing the wedding of Fay and Steve in London late last year and was travelling to the reception in the front of the bridal car with Fay and Steve. We turned right shortly after leaving St Sophia the Greek Orthodox Cathedral. We had travelled no more than a few hundred yards when we approached a Jewish Synagogue who were waiting for their bride to arrive, with our bridal car approaching in the slow traffic and stopping outside the Synagogue the poor boys in charge obviously thought that we were their car, they soon realised we were not but the looks on their faces were priceless. One of them eventually showed some emotion and gave us a wave.

Sarah and Steven were married at Cripps Barn, an isolated Cotswolds' Stone Barn in the countryside by Bibury. A fantastic day. I photographed Steven's brother's wedding a few years back and it was great to meet up with Chris and Katia again and the rest of the family. A great day was had by all. A huge thank you to Paul, the best man, and his ushers. A huge thank you to Linda, the bridesmaid - what can I say about Linda, for being just crazy, and for looking after Sarah so well, and for putting up with me. Amber and Jon 24.02.11 Madinat Jumeirah Dubai

Amber and Jon ( Burty and Old Man ) ................ Were married at Jebel Ali Church and then on to the magnificent hotel and resort of "Madinat Jumeirah" . Amber's family flew in from Christchurch New Zealand just before the Earthquake hit the city. I hope they have arrived home safely and are with all their friends and family. Jon's family mostly flew in from England to be at the wedding. Both families and friends of Amber and Jon had a fantastic day and the evening's entertainment was superb. All so well organised by both the bride and groom down to the smallest detail. A big thank you to Jon's brother and best man, Sean, the ushers, Angela and the bridesmaids for all their help and support, and all the staff at "Madinat Jumeirah. " On Tuesday evening there was a 'Welcome' drinks reception held at the "Dubai Marina Yacht Club" and on the Wednesday the boys played golf over "Jumeirah Golf Estates" home of the Dubai World Championship, Sean was the overall winner on the day. I got nearest the pin!! A huge thrill and thank you to Jon and Amber for that. Peope who know me know I'm a bit of a golf addict.

A final thank you to Amber and Jon for letting me share their day with them.

There is also a dreadful rumour that I had my trousers off and was in the sea up to my what's its to get a photograph of the bridal party on the beach...... not too sure how this started !!!!!

Zoe and Owen were married in St Adrian's in Gullane. Leaving from the Marine Villa at Archerfield for the church service at 12.30 pm. It was a perfect day, cold but bright, fantastic light for photography, but then the haar came in from the sea, making it an even colder day, which made everyone even more determined to have a fabulous day. Owen's family travelled over from Ireland, Zoe's close family from south of the border. Both families enjoyed them selves enormously. The reception was held in the Clubhouse at Archerfield, a magnificent venue. A big thank you to Frances and all the staff at Archerfield, to Brian and his ushers for all their help and to Kate and the bridesmaids.

Amy and Jack were married on Saturday at "Mansfield Traquair" in Edinburgh. A magnificent venue in the heart of the city centre. A great winter wedding, with both families and friends of Amy and Jack enjoying themselves well into the small hours. Although the wedding was not till 4.30 pm it did not stop us getting outside with the ushers and bridesmaids. My message of, " Don't worry, they won't run you down. " seemed to work. My last wedding of 2010, Sam and Tom were married at Archerfield House, by Dirleton,

a stunning venue. Sammy and Tom had both travelled back from South Africa for their wedding. Friends and family came from all over, as well as South Africa. Tom's close family were just down the road at North Berwick. Every one had a great day. Then there is a large party to be held in London on the 7th January for all those who could not make it to the wedding. A big thank you to Fay and Peter and all their staff at Archerfield House, Steve at Design Scotland Video, the bestman, the ushers and bridesmaids for all their help. And of course a big thank you to Samantha and Tom.

Monty

Those of you who have visited the studio or have met me on my travels, will also have met Monty. He was made memorable to new acquaintances by his friendly greeting of a nose in the groin. Once this was done he would amicably lean against you. Unfortunately, Monty died on Saturday 4th December, shortly after we found out he was ill.

He was a well travelled dog who stayed in some of the best hotels in the U.K. He accompanied me to many of my weddings up and down the country. We had many adventures together over his life time; on ferries, in hotels, on golf courses and at the beach, but mostly up the hills chasing the deer !!!! He met up with a few celebrities over the years and greeted them in his usual fashion.

Monty and the other two Ms, Morgan and Micky raided the kitchen at the Hilton Hotel in Coventry at the MPA photography awards a few years back. They were chased through the kitchen but managed to free a few sausages on the way through before I caught up with them.

He is already much missed.

Carolyn and Gordon at the Barmoral Hotel Edinburgh 04/12/10

Carolyn and Gordon got married in the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. Gordon had proposed to Carolyn at the top of Arthur's Seat, the volcanic hill that overlooks Edinburgh, so there was only one place for their marriage to be held...... Edinburgh.

Everyone made it to the Balmoral safely, despite travel chaos, with Edinburgh Airport closed for a while, planes and trains delayed and cancelled and some horrendous road conditions.

A big thank you to every one, especially best man Simon, and not forgetting Carolyn and Gordon.

Holly and Daniel at Swinton Kirk and Springwood Hall 02/12/10

Holly and Daniel were married during the heavy snow falls in early December. That did not stop them nor their guests from having a great day. They were married in Swinton Kirk in the Scottish Borders, and had the reception in Springwood Hall. Rosie from Rosie's Catering and her staff were there to meet the guests on arrival with champagne and to provide them with their wedding meal. The wedding was my largest of the year with 250 at the wedding and another 200 at night. Well done to all. A few thank you's to best man Angus and the Ushers, Cat and the bridesmaids for being great fun. And Jane ......

Shona and Kevin at Glasgow Cathedral and the Barony Hall 27/11/10

Shona and Kevin got married at Glasgow Cathedra l, a magnificent medieval Cathedral dating back to 1197. In a previous post I harked on about how when we visit France, Spain or Italy we look upon their old churches and cathedrals as being outstanding, but we have some amazing cathedrals and churches on our own door step. They are all well worth a visit even if you are not religious. The architecture is something else. Anyway, back to the wedding. Despite the awful road conditions we all made it. A great wedding, with the reception held in the Barony Hall a few hundred yards from the Cathedral. Thank you to Gary, Kevin's brother, who also was best man, for all his help, to the ushers, to Jenny and the bridesmaids, and a special thank you to Shona and Kevin.

Julia and Kevin at The Roxburghe Kelso

Julia and Kevin were married at the Roxburghe Hotel in Kelso on Saturday. A very intimate wedding with close family and friends. Julia's family flew in from Germany for the wedding. Kevin's family travelled up from south of the border. Great weekend had by all.

The wedding rings were delivered by an owl, to Paul, the best man, during the wedding service. This was one of the many surprises kept from their wedding guests by Julia and Kevin.

The dinner table was magnificently set out by John the Maitre D, with the help of Kevin. It was a superb table setting, again kept away from the guests, and Julia, until it was time to take their seats. The evening was finished of by a ceilidh with all the wedding guests on the floor, some literally !!! Not too sure about the standard of the dancing but everyone was having a ball.

A big thank you to John and all the staff at the Roxburghe.

Victoria and Stephen at Abbotsford House by Melrose 06/11/10

Stephen and Victoria were married in Abbotsford House, the home of Sir Walter Scott in the heart of the Scottish Borders. Met up with the boys at the "Town House" in Melrose and then on to Victoria and her family, who had travelled over from Belfast. The weather turned nasty later on but we managed to have some fun before it got too bad. A big thank you to best man Peter, bridesmaid Gemma, and all the staff at Abbotsford House. And let's not forget registrar Mrs Margaret Dick, who is one of the best at what she does.

And of course.......... Thank you Victoria and Stephen.

Christine and Andrew at St Mary's Parish Church, Belford and on to Detchant Farm 05/11/10

Christine and Andrew married in St Mary's, on the magnificent Northumberland coast line, opposite Holy Island and Banbury Castle. It is six years since I photographed Christine's sister Catherine's wedding in the same church; a magnificent little parish church in the old coaching village of Belford. How time flies......

Met up with Andrew first in the new family farm shop, Sunnyhills of Belford Butchery and Bistro. Well worth a visit if you are travelling up or down the A1, only a few hundred yards off the A1.

Then on to the farm house to meet up with Christine and the girls. A great day was had by all. A big thank you to both sets of families for making me so welcome. Also met up with a few faces from past weddings that I have photographed. It's a small world.........

Yet an other great day on Saturday. Rosie and Chris got married in the wonderful location of "Duns Castle" in the Scottish Borders. Travelling up from Leeds on the Friday for their wedding, both families had a fantastic weekend. Clay pigeon shooting was organised for the Saturday morning. Still not to sure who won the competition, although I know it definitely was not Chris. Everything went well on the Saturday for the wedding. The service was held in the castle, weather was fab......... Thank you to the bridesmaids, who looked stunning. And especially Rasham and best men Steff and Rob and the ushers......... thank you for all your help. To Mr Hay, and all the staff at Duns Castle............. thank you

Mala and Steven at Solsgirth House 18/09/10

An other fab day at Solsgirth House. Unfortunately, for all of us, it was the last wedding to be held at Solsgirth under the present ownership of Bernie and Denise. I have been photographing weddings at Solsgirth over the past 11 years and I have looked forward to every one of them. A great venue ran superbly by Bernie and Denise and all the staff at Solsgirth. They will be sadly missed. Also not forgetting Vicky and all her staff and "Be My Guest Events" - great food and hospitality. I wish them well for the future...... On to the day, both Mala and Steven got ready in the apartments in the house. The wedding service was held out side in the gardens. The weather held up for all of the day despite a few dark clouds passing by. A big thank you to Alastair, Steven's best man and Mala's sister Aarti for all their help in organising a few people. Also the "Dollar Academy Pipe Band" who were the surprise entertainment later on in the evening..........

A big thank you to Heather and Neil for letting me share their day with them. It was my first visit to Keavil House by Dunfermline. I look forward to going back soon I hope. Unfortunately, due to a heavy shower just before 2.00pm, the wedding service had to be changed from an outside event into the main hall in the hotel. It was a shame as both Heather and Neil were set on looking having their service outside in the gardens. And as things worked out the sun broke through shortly after the service for the rest of the day.......... Sods law !!!

Jeannine and Damon ........ what can I say. Captain Halinan and Damon married in St Aloysius in Glasgow and then to Cameron House on Loch Lomond for their reception. We had some great fun on the banks of Loch Lomond with all the guests and family of the bride and groom. A big thank you to Dave our MC, Geoff best man and Natasha Jeannine's sister. The Irish certainly made them selves known to me, great company !!!!!! Obviously not forgetting Damons Mum and family.

Fay and Steven at St Sophias and the Roof Gardern, Kensington. 05/09/10

Steven and Fay married at St Sophia's in Bayswater.

St Sophias's Greek Orthodox Cathedral dates back to Charles I and was constructed in 1677, it was the first Greek Orthodox Church built in London. The reception was held in the wonderful Roof Gardens in Kensington. My day started by being picked up at my hotel by Ash and taken to Stevens parents house for the family blessing, then on to Fay and then to the Cathedral for the wedding, finishing up at the Roof Gardens. I had a great laugh with Fay and Steven through out the day, the Greek Money Dance was amazing, as was all the traditional Greek Dance's. A big thank you to both family s for making me so welcome, Frances and all the staff at the Roof Gardens, best man Dimis and all the ushers and bridesmaids.

Walking the boys yesterday first thing, the light was magnificent with the red sun rising, shining through the mist, up this morning to capture it but it was like pea soup, you could not even see the sun through the mist. After a while it began to lift leaving wonderful soft light to work with. A few of the boys, Monty and Magnus in the corn field.

Tracy and Garry married at the Trossachs Church , by Brig O' Turk, looking over Loch Achray. With their reception at Roman Camp in Callander. The day went brilliantly, with everyone enjoying the warm weather. Thank you to Garry's brother, David, who came back from South Africa to attend the wedding and be his brother's best man. Their minister was great fun, but unfortunately her name escapes me. She set the tone for a friendly and relaxed wedding.

Claire and Alan at Elim Christian Fellowship / Paisley Town Hall 21/08/10

Claire and Allan got married at Elim Christian Fellowship Church in Paisley. Everybody was in fine singing voice. After the service we all took to the streets of Paisley for the walk to the Town Hall for the reception. We did not hold up the traffic that much, even when we organised a large group shot of all the family and guests in the middle of the busiest road in Paisley, on a Saturday afternoon. Well done to all. After a few celebratory drinks we all left the reception and had some fun in and around the Town Hall and Paisley Abbey.

Laura and Matthew at Dunblane Cathredral / Roman Camp 20/08/10

Laura and Matthew were married in Dunblane Cathedral, and, as in the previous post, it's another example of our fabulous architectural history. Then on to the Roman Camp for their reception. Roman Camp has to be one of the best wedding venues in Scotland. Laura and Matthew had a fab time. The bridesmaids, well what can I say, the sexiest bridesmaids' dresses I have ever seen. Well done girls. In the evening there was a "Pig Roast" for the evening supper with Chinese Lanterns being set off by Laura, Matthew and all the guests. Laura threw her flowers, which seems to be a long forgotten tradition. It was great to see it done with so much enthusiasm. Suzie, the chief bridesmaid caught them. She is away to find a husband now.

Karen and Chris at St. Michael's, Linlithgow.

Karen and Chris got married at St Michael's by Linlithgow Palace. Dating back to 1242 it is an amazing church. On our travels, we all visit churches and cathedrals in France, Italy, Spain and all over the world. We think they are amazing, but really, you don't have to look any further than your own doorstep. We have brillant churches and cathedrals of our own with outstanding architecture. Karen looked stunning and Chris was not too bad either. After the service the reception was held back at the Officers' Mess, at Craigiehall, in Edinburgh. A fabulous day. The evening was in full swing as I left. Thank you to Neil, the best man, for all his help on the day.

The third of my local weddings in the Scottish Borders in July. I have been living in the Scottish Borders now for over 26 years and it still amazes me that I can come across some areas that I have not travelled through. Makerston lies in the area between Kelso and St Boswells, an amazing area that I don't know particularly well, with small villages scattered all over it ........ a glorious part of the Borders. Fritha and Simon got married in Makerston Kirk, a stunning, small, village church, with their reception back at their farm in a Marquee and with cover over the courtyard. But first there was a drinks reception in Fritha's mother's beautifully kept garden.

Another great day for all guests, friends and both families.

Kimberly and Marcus at Ettrickbridge 17/07/10

The Girls .............

Second of the three local weddings in the Borders. Kimberly and Marcus married at "Pinelodge House" in their garden.

Met up with Kimberly and her girls in the "Town House" in Melrose first before heading over to Ettrickbridge. The service was held in front of friends and family, Kimberly's family are from New Zealand and they had a ball. After the service we headed off to Bowhill Estate with a few bottles of champagne and a walk over the estate. Back to the house for dinner and the evening entertainment. One of the best wedding bands I have heard for a while played for the guests "Three Card Trick" if anyone is interested in looking them up.

Great Day, and I believe the Sunday BBQ at "Pinelodge" was superb too.

Photographed two great friends' wedding on Saturday in the small village of Westruther in the Scottish Borders. What a great location for a wedding: a fab church with a fab minister to go with it, a village hall that is 100 yards from the church and has all the facilities that you will ever need and of course the amazing village pub. The Old Thistle Inn. Kamila's family from Poland had a ball of a time. Westruther reminds me very much of a small village in northern France I have stayed in while visting their Cheese and Wine festival, in Theirache. A big thank you to Mike Whellans, for his set. For those who have not heard Mike before , check him out.

The first wedding of the year that I have been to that was held out side. A great day at "Solsgirth House" We started the day off by visiting Karens Grandmother who is 98 years young, then drove to Solsgirth for the service. A big thank you to Bernie and Denise Victoria and all her staff at "Be My Gusest" great service as useual. On a personal note I wish Bernie and Denise all the best for the future.

Have not been to Wedderburn Castle for a while and it was great to be back. Michelle and Keith married in the castle in front of their assembled guest in the Ball Room. Their day went according to plan, the only hiccup was a short, heavy shower that forced everyone for cover. A big thank you to David and all the staff at Wedderburn for all their assistance.

Another great day at Roman Camp in Callander on Friday past. Elizabeth and Bob tied the knot at St Andrew's Church in Callander and then travelled up the High St to Roman Camp. Weather held out for them and every one seemed to be enjoying the day. A big thank you to Eric and all the staff, Ian and all the chefs in the kitchen for once again supplying amazing food.

Great day on the banks of Loch Lomond on Saturday. Unfortunately, as we left Helensburgh to travel over the hill to The Cruin on Loch Lomond, the rain was waiting for us. I don't think it let up for the rest of the day. A great credit to Julainna, Chris and the whole wedding party for getting wet. At least it was warm rain, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

A big thank you to Kevin and all the staff at "The Cruin" for all their help and organisation.

I have now had the pleasure of witnessing yet another amazing first dance, two with in the space of a month. Fantastic to watch, truly entertaining. Thank you Julianne and Chris. Big thanks also to the Irish Dance troupe who performed as a surprise for Julianne and Chris.

Travelled south on Friday, down to Egnam in Surrey, for the wedding of Emma and Will on the Saturday. It was held at the beautiful location of "Great Fosters". Great Fosters dates back to 1550, built as a royal hunting lodge for King Henry VIII . He never quite made it though, as he died before he had a chance to stay in it. A huge thank you to all for making it a superb day, especially to best man Peter, Emma's sister Sarah, the ushers, the bridesmaids and David and all the staff at Great Fosters.

It was great to meet up with Emma and Martyn whose wedding I photographed in 2006, and Fay and Steven whose wedding I'm photographing in September in London.

Photographed Lauren and David's wedding on Saturday at the Hub in Edinburgh. It is the first time I have been there when it's not been a dark and dreak winter's day. This time the weather was fantastic but with a cold wind. After a few glasses of "lemonade" everyone seemed to cope. A big thank you to the local constabulary for not arresting us and the bus and taxi drivers for their patience as we caused havoc at the top of the High Street. I borrowed a Ferarri that was by chance sitting out side one of the shops We parked it in the middle of the mini roundabout ..... thank you Bindi !!!
